Caramel & daughter
Caramel was founded in the early 1990's by Pat “Caramel” Régné, then a prominent DJ on the New York night club scene.
We first started as “Caramel Audio”, designing and installing sound systems in Clubs, Bars and Restaurants in NYC. Caramel eventually started renting sound systems to other DJ’s. As we evolved, in 2000 we became Caramel Sound Music & Lights, providing not only Audio, but also Lighting, and eventually Video and Staging.
We are based in NYC and are owned and operated by Pat “Caramel” Régné and his Daughter, Nadine Régné
Pat “Caramel” Régné hails from Montreux, Switzerland, where he grew up with the world famous Montreux Jazz Festival as his playground. He got his taste for nightlife an early age by being exposed to the nightclubs of the 70’s his father designed, where he started his DJ career in the early 80’s at the age of 14. Also at age 14, he ran the stage of his father’s cabaret-theatre, L’Alcazar in Montreux. He immigrated to New York in the mid 80’s to pursue his DJ career where he played in clubs like Nell’s, Bowery Bar, Veruka, Delia’s, Buddha Bar… He started Caramel Audio as a sound system design company for night clubs, bars and restaurants. Caramel eventually started doing equipment rentals to other DJ’s and eventually morphed into New York’s full-service event production firm of choice in the Fashion, Luxury and art markets.
Nadine Régné grew up accompanying her father on his jobs from the time she was very little. She used to say that one day she will take over the company! After graduating from the Technical Theatre of the fame high school LaGuardia, Nadine started as the house tech at Le Bain night club at the Standard Hotel, where she eventually became the production manager in charge of all technical production at Le Bain and the “Boom Boom Room”. Nadine is also the production manager at Howl! Happening and is the personal tech for some of the hottest DJ’s around, such as Alexandra Richards, Mia Moretti and more… Having grown up in a “DJ family” she was bound to become a DJ herself, she currently plays some of the hippest parties and clubs in NYC and has her own show on The Lot Radio, Dog Bites Dog.
